7-card spread

The Seven-Card Spread, Moon Arc

From new moon to full moon and back

Seven cards in an arc that mirrors the moon cycle. Each position belongs to a phase: from the seed of the new moon, through growth, to full bloom and back to rest. This is a spread to read over time, perfect at the start of a new month or cycle.

When to use

For bigger themes that stretch over weeks or months. At the start of a project, a season, or during moon rituals.

Ritual

Do this spread preferably at new or full moon. Light a candle, shuffle the deck in silence, and lay the cards in an arc from left to right, like a rising and then setting moon.

Meaning per position

  1. 1

    New moon, the seed

What wants to be born in this cycle? The intention, the longing, the unspoken beginning.

Example card · The Fool, pure potential, a leap into the new without guarantees

  2. 2

    Waxing crescent, the first action

The first concrete step. Small, honest, not perfect, but real.

Example card · The Magician, direct your will and make the first manifesting move

  3. 3

    First quarter, the challenge

The resistance the seed meets. What in you doubts? What in the world pushes back?

Example card · Strength, gentle perseverance tames the inner beast

  4. 4

    Full moon, the bloom

The peak. What becomes visible now reveals the essence of the cycle. Celebrate and observe.

Example card · The Sun, joy, vitality and clear confirmation

  5. 5

Waning arc, what may be released

Which habit, thought, or relationship has done its work and may now go?

Example card · Death, an honest transition clears space

  6. 6

    Last quarter, the lesson

What did you learn? The card that helps put your insight into words.

Example card · The Hermit, inner wisdom you'll carry forward

  7. 7

    Dark moon, the rest

The stillness before the next seed. What calls for rest, integration and trust?

Example card · The High Priestess, listening to what only speaks in silence
